Dangers of unsafe Passwords

Everyone has always said to use the same password for all of your accounts. If a hacker finds out your password, they will stop at nothing to check other sites. If you are using the same password for every account, and you get hacked, they already know everything they need to know to get into other accounts that you have signed up for. Hackers gain more access to your life, such as emails, banking, social media, and other sites. Do not write down your passwords around or near your computer. Change your passwords regularly. Use long, random passwords that are easy to remember.

Spreadsheets

Spreadsheets are used a lot by businesses. Teenagers can get a lot of use out of them as well. Teenagers can use spreadsheets to create a chore list for each day of the week to keep up with what they need to do. They can use spreadsheets to calculate averages, sums, differences, or any other solutions. They can use them to create graphs for projects. Teens can also use spreadsheets to create a checklist or a schedule.

If I had a friend that was being cyberbullied, I would offer them some important tips on how to deal with it. I would tell them not to let the bully phase them. No one can tell you your worth or who you are. I would tell them to report it to Law Enforcement, school counselors, and their parents. Also, prevent communication from the cyberbully. Save the evidence of the cyberbullying. Don't blame yourself. Learn to deal with the stress, and spend time doing things you enjoy.

Communication through Technology

I think technology has allowed us to do many things that we could have never imagined. Yes, we do rely on technology a lot, especially in the area of communication. I think it is a good thing for most people. I think we should take advantage of the technology that we are given. I don't think that students' writing skills are declining, so I don't agree with the statement "today's students' writing skills are declining." We are taught writing skills in school. It is a student's responsibility to pay attention and learn. When they communicate through technology, they know the basic writing skills. It is up to them to use it. Most kids use abbreviations and shortcuts because communication through technology can become lengthy.

Russian Hackers

Russian hackers have taken 1.2 billion passwords and usernames and over a half a billion emails. A theft from Target affected 40 million credit cards and debit cards become one of the largest breaches of all time, but the Russian criminals have taking identity theft to a whole new level. The group of about a dozen people in their 20's appears to be based in south central Russia. While trying to track the online breaches, Hold Security uncovered many major hacks from the past.  Hold Security will provide a tool for people to check to see if their credentials have been stolen. I have seen many cases where someone's account has been hacked. I think that hacking is ridiculous, and it is getting worse by the year. As our technology increases, the amount of hackers increases too.

Should the Internet be governed?

There are currently no real laws or rules that govern the Internet. I think there should be certain regulations to control the lack of privacy and security, bullying, predators, and hackers in our society. The most common problems I have seen on the Internet are cyberbullying and hackers. It gets worse as the years and generations progress. I think we should develop laws to stop cyberbullying and hackers from gaining access to personal information. Suicide rates would decrease. People would not be afraid of becoming hacked by clicking a link to a web page.

Introduction

My name is Lailie. This is my Computer Literacy Blog. I have taken a computer keyboarding class, so I basically know and remember a lot of the material we covered for the Microsoft programs. I also know how to explore the basic search engines. I want to explore and learn more about blogging. I would also like to know how to complete resumes.
